Gypsy Moths in Lake County
Written by Tommy Thiel
Wednesday, 18 January 2012
The Indiana Department of Resources has notified Schererville that they have discovered Gypsy Moths in or near our town, as well as in Lake County. They are taking steps to prevent the destruction from this invasive insect in order to protect our trees. There will be a public meeting at the Lake County Public  Library in Schererville at 1001 West Lincoln Highway, on Tuesday February 7th, 2012 at 6:30pm to discuss the proposed treatment.  If you are unable to attend the meeting in Schererville, there is a second meeting being held at the Lake County Library in Hobart, 100 North Main Street on February 8th also at 6:30pm.  Gypsy Moths have destroyed trees throughout the United States including in nearby Chicago. They have since been identified in Lake, Porter, Fulton and Kosciusko Counties in Indiana.
